Financial Planning: The Road to Success

Virgil A. Kahl CPA, CFP is a 1988 Graduate of Bloomsburg University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration/Accounting and Management. She spent six years in public accounting with Ernst & Young and Kuntz Lesher. For the following eight years, Virgil was the Chief Financial Officer of Bethany Children's Home, becoming heavily involved in evaluating the investments of the Childrens Home’s Endowment funds, Pension funds, Estates and Trusts. She remains an active member of the AICPA and PICPA, having held many leadership positions within PICPA and received The Champion Award in 2007, recognizing her exemplary quality of leadership, through participation, contributions, and commitment to the profession and community. In 2002, she joined the Spring Ridge Financial Group LLC in Wyomissing, PA and became a Certified Financial Planner, NASD Series 7 and 63 Registered Representative, and Life, Annuity, Accident and Health Insurance Agent. In 2006, Virgil became the owner of the financial planning practice for which she had worked. With diligence and quality service, the size of her practice more than tripled in the last decade and she now manages over 500 million dollars of investable assets. She is one of the top ranking advisors at her broker-dealer, Commonwealth Financial Network. In 2012, she was recognized by Registered Rep Magazine as one of the Top 50 Independent Broker/Dealer Women Advisors in 2011, with a ranking of #12 nationally. This survey covered all independent Broker/Dealers nationwide. In addition to providing investment and retirement planning advice for individuals and small businesses, Virgil also hosts a weekly live radio show, The Money Doctor on 830 AM WEEU, keeping the listening audience informed of changes in the economy and markets, as well as other financial planning concepts.
Virgil is the proud mother of daughter Erica, a graduate of Duquesne University, who is now pursuing her Masters in Health Administration at Penn State. Virgil is also proud of her son Alexander Kahl, who is pursuing an Accounting Degree at St. Joseph's University.
