Introduction to Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing has advanced in its practice and application in many disciplines. Working beyond the basics, practitioners use their skills to enhance conversations about change focusing on the four processes: Engaging, Focusing, Evolving and Planning. This Webinar will discuss the possibilities of moving the conversation to successful integration of Motivational Interviewing toward a strategic focus.
Participants will be able to:
1. Identify the benefits of using Motivational Interviewing Strategies.
2. Review the Four Processes of Motivational Interviewing.
3. Enhance skill level in the use of Motivational Interviewing in practice.
Kate Speck, PhD MAC LADC, Senior Research Manager, University of Nebraska, Public Policy Center has 40 years’ experience in behavioral health, addictions, prevention/intervention, suicide prevention, and pregnant/parenting women. Kate regularly trains Motivational Interviewing, providing training and technical assistance to enhance practitioner skill level in addressing behavior change. She is an active member of MINT and has provided training for new trainers in Montreal and Ireland.
